Successful Asian Day performances hosted by Lydia Music Center
Congratulations to the successful Asian Day performances hosted by Lydia Music Center at Kennywood Park! This is the first Asian Day hosted in the amusement park for spreading cultural awareness.
Saturday (7/29/23) began with an enthusiastic kick off by the Xiaobo waist drum group, followed by the melodious cucurbit instrument, sweet folk vocal solos, beautiful folk dances, and flute and Pipa instruments, all of which garnered warm applause from the audience. The “Shaolin Shaolin” sung by the Harmony Choir brought a loud energy to the whole audience. Some tourists came excitedly to hear this song! Due to the heavy rain that day, only two of the three prepared performances were put on. But even through the rain, the audience was too eager to stay and watch. The performance on Sunday (7/30/23) presented passionate Chinese Kung Fu, the crisp sound of the pipa, dancers with movement like butterflies, a qipao (traditional Chinese dress) show, and a fiery kpop dance. The audience was simply amazed and kept on cheering for the next number. Even the staff couldn't help jumping out from backstage to record the performance ,saying they “just liked it so much!” This two-day Chinese cultural event for Asian Day was evaluated as THE best performance in the history of Kennywood Park shows. The employees of the amusement park wished that such a performance should be held every year!
